Awareness Press Conference for the 60th Anniversary of the University of Kelaniya

University of Kelaniya Reached 60

The University of Kelaniya: one of the main universities within the university system in Sri Lanka reaches the age of 60 as at 17th June 2019. Vidyalankara Pirivena was declared a university under the Swabasha policy in 1956. The university with five faculties was established under the Vidyodaya and Vidyalankara Universities Act No. 45 of 1958 and its first batch consisted of 363 undergraduates.

Workshop for Provincial Journalists

A workshop organized for the provincial journalists by the Communication & Media Unit, University of Kelaniya was held on the 27th of December 2018 at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre. The prime objective of the workshop was to make the journalists of Kelaniya and Gampaha regions aware of the internal affairs of the University and expanding their knowledge on provincial journalism.

The Communication & Media Unit commenced its activities on the 13th August 2007. The sole responsibility of the Communication & Media Unit is to publish information pertaining to the academia and development of the University.  Covering news items for Sri Lankan media along with updating new media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIn and Youtube accounts are additional responsibilities of the Communication & Media Unit.
